Weird Clutch Problem
I was pulling out of work about a week ago, when I let off the clutch when switching from first to second like I always have, when heard a sound that I can only describe as what a spring coming losing sounds like. From that moment I've been having trouble with my RPM's. When I use to press in the clutch while shifting my engines RPM's would immediately drop to idle. From the time I heard the spring noise my RPM's now stick at the shifting RPM's for up to 2 seconds. In the past week it hasn't gotten any worse. It hasn't been a huge issue because it still goes into gear just fine most of the time but I'm concerned that I might burn out the clutch. Any ideas on what could go out in a clutch that would cause the RPM's to stick? Thanks guys.

You should be concerned with burning out the synchros in the transmission, rather than burning out the cluch. Something has gone awry with the clutch or linkage and it appears it is not relasing completely. That would keep the engine at high RPM till the transmission went through neutral.

The only problem is the clutch is just barely over a year old. I spent about $1500 having the clutch, master, and slave cylinders replaced when I was having trouble. Are they able to just go in a fix the spring or do they have to replace both?

check the linkage to make sure its not there. were did the spring sound come from. inside or outside the car? if u lost a spring from the pressure plate then ull have to replace it at the least. the clutch plate is not that much so it would be best if your in there to change it too.
