Way to open trunk without keys and trunk release button not working?

I need to get my trunk open on my 94 to replace the lock cylinder. Any tips?

If your going to replace it drill that bad boy out start small like 3/16ths and work up to 1/2 inch than you can stick a screw driver in there and turn the lock mechanism

The struts on my car's hatch are not strong enough for me to push the dash button and have the trunk open. However, if I use my remote I can open my trunk after the remote triggers the release latch. You may also try having someone push the button while you open the hatch if you don't have a remote. This would allow you into the rear area so you can fix the lock properly.

How we used to do it in the bad old days in Brooklyn.
Get a large square shafted flat blade screw driver, a hammer, and an adjustable wrench. Using the hammer drive the screw driver as far as possible into the key hole. Take the wrench and twist the screw driver. Something will let loose, either the lock cylinder, or the entire lock assembly. lol

I've used a ball-peen hammer and give the lock a few good hard raps. That would peel the body metal around the lock in and the tumbler with the attached flat connecting bar would fall inside. Then you reach in with a long screwdriver, put it in the slot of the lock mechanism, and pop the trunk open. Of course, this is done when you're not worried about body damage.

go to dealer with VIN, they can cut a door key for it off VIN....

Well I didn't want to risk body damage so I went to a chevy deakership to get a key made to my vin #.. Well that didn't work.. Paid $36 for a key that doesn't open **** except the new door locks I put in it.. Not sure how that worked.. So I just unbolted the whole lock mechanism from the car and got it open.. Just need a new cylinder with a working key now.

For anyone with this problem its a simple fix.. Pull back carpet and release the rod from the cylinder to the unlatching/locking mechanism.. It is held by a spring clip on the cylinder.. Once released use a screwdriver to turn the locking mechanism bolted to the frame.. Once lid is open unbolt the 4 bolts to remove back camaro faceplate thing kinda by the brake light knobs.. Once that is removed I had to drill out the rivets holding the cylinder in place.. Once I got that out use the old spacer and replace the cylinder using bolts and nuts but reattach the rod that goes between first.. I didnt and had to take it apart again.. Hope this helps anyone else with this problem
