So last week we had a couple solid days of rain. I noticed the rear floormats were a little damp. I took the car through a car wash to see where it's leaking from. It leaks a small amount at the top corner of both windows. The weather stripping appears to be in good shape and nothing else leaks.. Any suggestions on a fix? It doesn't leak too bad but I am afraid if I let it go it may get worse or I will end up having to replace the carpet.

 

To be honest I've never not had this problem, the windows on these cars aren't made for carwashes/pressure lol

 

I know that, it initially leaked from the rain so I took it through the carwash just to see where it was leaking from.

How good are your seals on you tops? Do they look newer? Have you personally replaced them? If you take them off can you see if there is any places the gasket might have or is failing?

 

I have that problem if the windows arent completly all the way maxed up. Or if they dont rest the right way on the seals. Or if the seals are wet. Idk very bad idea for water protection. Somedays I get a wet backseat other days nothing. Depends on if im lucky I guess.

 

Possible that your windows are ever so slightly out of adjustment. I think the shbox site has some information on adjusting the windows and that may help stop the leaks.

 

The seals look newer, or at least in very good condition. I myself hit them with silicone spray every now and then.
Maybe it was how the windows were resting.. since I've never had it happen before. I've even taken it through car washes previously with absolutely no leaks. I will check out the window adjustment though. Thanks for all the input.

 

I have had the same problem before. My carpet is actually still a little wet from a rain storm about a month ago. My old man used to have a 3rd gen Maro with t-tops and he said the drain ports that run through the gasket down into the fender get clogged sometimes and back up the water and start leaking into the car. I took a long, thin wire and very carefully ran down through the ports without puncturing the seals and I haven't had the problem since. I even put the garden hose right at the top of the window for about 15 minutes and no leakage. Maybe that's an idea for you since you have t-tops as well.
