I have had great luck with the COMPNINE site. I have used it several times to hunt down fake SS's before going to look at them.

Excellent find, I tried it and it works great. The chevy-camaro site doesn't give the VIN option breakdown like that.

 

This site told me this about my SS:
"Rarity...

and this about my RS:

pretty keel, nice to find. mine is 1 of 5 made.
What's odd is that 2005 had the R7T (ss pkg) and 1914 have the WU8 SS upfitter code
