Default Ultra Z hood help

As you may know I have serious repairs to do after hitting a deer. I have to replace my hood. I have a fiber glass ultra Z hood on now and I wanted to know if carbon fiber hoods are any better?

Thanks,

I have the Trufiber Ultra Z clone hood on my RS, SLP/ACS Composite made the originals, and VFN Fiberglass also makes clones. The carbon fiber is stronger, more costly, and lighter, as for how much lighter, you should have the hood manufacturers tell you. But you better check how much carbon fiber the hood really has and the weight compared their fiberglass/composite/resin only hood, vs. just for looks! Yes there are Ultra Z hoods in CF too...

I have a Trufiber Ultra Z hood on my '98 base. It now has cracks throughout the fiber hood. What I didn't like about the Trufiber is the prep time. Mine had a lot of pits because of the fiber glass mold.

I know it's about a 7 lb weigh saving but the I really don't care about that. What I was wondering is if the prep for a carbon fiber is the same or easier that a glass fiber hood.

I should add the cracks was because of the deer impact and doesn't reflect on workmanship at Trufiber.

Trufiber is not the best quality, I have some stress marks due to fiberglass which is not thick enough or well reinforced enough around the hood support areas. Their air exit holes from the scoop are in the wrong spot compared to my stock SS hood and I had to add holes to align properly with the stock air intake assembly slot. They are made in China. Honestly I would go with VFN Fiberglass next time, they're made locally:
VFN Fiberglass - All your fiberglass parts

Also the Trufiber carbon fiber Ultra Z hood just looks like it has a layer of CF -- just for looks...
