Default Turn signal lever stuck in position

I have a 99' camaro and the turn signal lever seems to get stuck in the down position when I make a left turn. It won't go back to the middle position after I make a turn unless I manually pull it back up. I was wondering if I need to get a new turn signal lever and if that would be difficult to install myself? I'm not really interested in sinking money into the car since I've had it for so many years so I'm staying away from bringing it to a mechanic. Thanks.

mine does it on the right. sometimes. lol. theres a plastic piece that sometimes comes lose and/or breaks. i think u can take a access plate off on the backside of the switch to look at it, unfortunatly to replace i think u need to take the wheel off which is a pita.
