Hey guys just a few questions. I have a 94 Z28 with 76,000 miles on it. If you check the youtube link in my signature you can see what is going on with my car. I have replaced the opti, ignition coil, plugs, and fuel filter. Sometimes the car will run fine for 15 mins some times the tach jumps all over the place and stalls out like in the video. i got the codes which pointed to the opti (16,32, and EST ground), so i replaced it and it still did the same thing. The wiring looked good (no corrosion or bad connections). The funny thing is that when the car stalls out sometimes the codes (16 and 32) dont even show up. I was wondering is there anyway to reboot the ECU?? i have a laptop and ALDL cable which i use to hook up to the ECU already. I just want to either reboot the ECU if possible/ reset the fuel injectors or whatever else it could be. Cause it seems to be running really rich and missing and backfiring at times. The car has sat for quite a long time while i was at school and i heard sometimes when re connecting the battery the ECU can have bad settings from it sitting so long (dont know if this is true). Any advice would be great!!! thanks!

still doing it huh. welcome back. i thought u replaced the ignition modual too. that may be something to look at. check the wireing harness that goes from the opti up to the plugin on the passenger side of the intake.

If you just want to reboot the ECU all you have to do is to disconnect the battery for abou 10 minutes. However; I don't think that is your problem. Many times a low voltage condition will cause the tach to go nuts.

yup im back, just graduated college so i have time to work on my car now. So far i have checked the ICM DC voltage on terminals A and D and they were in the correct range (both at 10.81V). Im charging the battery right now since its been sitting so long and didnt have enough amps to crank the engine. When its fully charged I will test the ICM AC voltage and make sure thats between 1-4 volts. Is there a good way to test the ignition system wire that runs from the opti to the PCM?? i did disconnect the test connector next to the manifold and tested for continuity from the connector to the opti, not the from the PCM. is there a way to see if its getting the correct voltage from the opti to the PCM on this wiring harness?
