Transmission Yolk

Brought my car in yesterday to get the oil changed and a radiator pressure test, and found out my transmission yolk is bad (loose i'm assuming). Anyone had any experience changing or tightening (if possible) one? In addition to the yolk, i have leaking intake manifold gasket, which is why i got the pressure test done on my radiator. It's leaking coolant and i could smell it burning on my exhaust. So, they said it would be 600 dollars to fix the manifold gasket. Does this sound accurate, and is there any way i could do it myself?? Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

You have a bad yolk? I didn't know they put eggs on those...just bustin' your lug-nuts!
I assume you're referring to your slip Yoke, but is it sloppy in the trans, or are you talking about youru-joints being sloppy? If the joints are bad, they don't adjust, they need to be replaced. Since you have to ask, and had someone else change the oil, I'm wondering if it might be beyond your mechanical capabilities anyway?Neither one is terribly difficult for someone with experience, but it is way more involved than simply changing your oil.

The only reason i had them change my oil is because it was already going in for the pressure test... I've changed every other time. I don't know much about transmissions though, and that's why i asked. The mechanic just said "your transmission yolk is bad". What that means, i'm not sure.

Bad yolks don't hatch.
Bad yolks don't hatch.
Dave, the place that did your oil and told you about your yolk, it didn't happen to be a Shell Station was it??

A bad yoke can mean either slop in the splines between it and the output shaft of the trans, or the yoke is cracked somewhere, or the u-joint is bad, or there is a groove in the seal area causing a leak. I think that does it? The diagnosis needs to be a tad more specific to determine what's bad.
