Default Transmission?

The other day my car threw a code. had it checked out and it said the tranmission is slipping. so i put ATF in the car cause it was low. it helped for a bit and the code went away. now when ever i hit the pedal, the car just kinda jerks along. is this the transmission slipping? or any ideas of what it could be doing? any help would be awesome

Just a suggestion... run some Lucus stop slip tranny fix stuff. Usually if it's slipping a little due to low fluid then it'll take a few miles for the fluid to get everywhere it needs to be before it'll show it's doing "better"

Make sure you didn't overfill it as well.

Too much lubricant = Gears slip out. There has to be a little friction there for the gears to grab

If you're going to do that may as well just change the tranny fluid. How long has it been sice you've done that?

Well said. Slippage really can't be solved with oil additives. Rebuilding is the fix all. Do not change the fluid. Automatic transmissions run on this principle: Change the fluid regularly as per the service schedule according to GM, or don't change it at all. The clutch dust and older fluid act as seals and help with sealing the ports and passages inside the transmission. New fluid has a high level of detergents that remove these makeshift seals. I've seen it all too many times. Keep an eye on your fluid, though. Smell it and inspect it regularly for obvious signs of burning. The 4L60E is notorious for slippage and malfunctions especially if there's a decent amount of age on it.
