T-top swap

Hey, I have a 96 Z-28 coupe and I just came across a 94 with t-top's and I'm seriously considering doing a T-top swap, I have the whole car and was thinking it would be easier to just cut off the entire roof's and switch them, but I heard that it might be just as easy to cut them in,
my friend's an experienced welder-body man, who owes me a few favors, so would I be able to do this for pretty cheep? I'm just looking for some advice on whats involved
I got the whole car for 150$ , minus the engine and trans, so I figure its worth a try, I think I can do most the work myself except for paint,
if anyone can see any bumps in the road that I'm overlooking please let me hear about them

Might as well haha. You have a $150 experiment. Try it out. Try making a targa top instead?

I would cut the 94 a part and see what your in for there is some center bracing. I am not sure how deep into the car you have to cut to get to where the changes starts. You don't want to just cut the tops in. You will end up with the same problem the early 2nd gen t-tops had.

The t-top structure is already there on a coupe. It's a matter of cutting off the roof skin in the right place, and swapping all the parts from the one car to the other.

This is exactly what one of my friends did with the help of his dad and the t tops work perfectly fine and they look good too

From what I have read, people are saying that you would have to cut the roof off of one that already has t-tops, and stick it on yours. There was a writeup that showed the same thing as I just mentioned.

If you do this please take some pics. I would love to see a step by step process. If you do a nice write up it could be a sticky or atleast a link in a sticky. Its a pretty common question.

I know someone has done the "cut the roof skin and put in the parts" T-Top thing before. Whoever did it (not on this sight) did a pretty good writeup with good pictures of the whole process. Unfortunately I can't remember where I found it.
