Default Stereo head unit

I know I posted this in a different section, but it didn't get much attention and I'm still looking for info. I have the stock Bose system in my car but I would like to do a head unit swap - what all will I need to do?

take out the old one get a plug for the stereo you buy ,most come with female male plug ,then now you will have to wire that in ,as well as all the speakers ,if your not inclined have a pro do it ,the days of 7 wires 4 for speakers an power ground an control is over .so you will want to find the gm plug that will work with what ever you choose, most are going with 6.7in touch screens you can get for around 200,00 for a good one do mp3 4 5 ,an hook phone in too ,like I said if your not electronically experienced ,me I just did gm plug an a jvc with mp3 regular stereo

The VIN reads it as a 2002 and the head unit is clearly labeled Bose... I don't even want a flatscreen, I just want a head unit with an aux port.

in any case if the front speakers have an amp on them then you will need an adapter or new speakers wired in. you can use the old wiring but its not the grade needed for most aftermarket setups.

My knowledge of sound systems is very limited, however I do know that my front door speakers are not the stock ones - My brother and I replaced them with plastic coned Duals because the original ones were on their way out when I got the car. I know the stock wiring is weird, because there were separate pairs of wires for the speakers and tweeters.

just put jvchead unit will fit an a plug for that system ,so no cutting of wires should be needed ,? but if someone put a bose system in there ,you will have to find out if the used plugs or fumbled up the wires ,if you just want aux they have the plug the cigarette lighter mp3 fm phone modulater ,connects bye one of your fm radio stations has the Aux ,much simpler then changing the head unit under $20.00 ,I am thinking about one for my 99 3800 for playing mp3

Sounds like it would be best to have someone else look at it since I'm not well educated on audio systems. The current head unit is a stock head unit, but it's possible it was replaced before I got the car. I have plenty of documentation from the PO, but nothing on that.
