starting problem

I got a 96 camaro z28 manual 6 speed. I have check engine light on it was for egr and opti spark so I just replaced the opti spark. My problem is that when I start my car it cranks over for about 10 sec before starting if I start it then shut it back off and start again it starts right up i thought it was the opti spark i replaced it and it started right up no problem drive down the road engine light came back on and when I shut car off wait about 30 mins cranks for about 10 sec before starting it's has new fuel pump coil opti spark i was thinking fuel filter does that sound right

try the fuel filter ,or the injectors could need cleaning as well

Part of the job of replacing the fuel pump is replacing the filter. Number one cause of failed fuel pump is a partially plugged filter. Most fuel pump manufactures will not honor warranty unless you show you bought a fuel filter at the same time as the pump.

First thing in the morning cycle the key on(not the starter just the lights on the dash) three times, each time wait 5 seconds with the key on. Then try to start it. If it start right away the issue is most likely the check valve in the fuel pump, and yes I have seen brand new fuel pumps with bad check valves. I drove one like that for 3 years, I just had to remember the cycle the key every morning.

I did the three key thing before didn't help I change the fuel filter and it hasn't done it sense so I guess it's fixed I was going to run some sea foam through it and clean it all out heads just redone about 500 miles ago
