Default stalling problem 1998 3.8

Hello all,
First time posting and looking for help.
Pulled a p0300 code. A little background,,,1998 Camaro 3.8 with 124,000 mile on her that intermittently shuts off when driving. Occurs when cold and hot. My mech buddy suggested replacing all coils with MSD, wires (MSD), new iridium plugs, and a new crank sensor. Has not helped and the towing bills are starting to add up.
Any help would be appreciated.

my icm was causing a similar issue with my 93. not sure if the 98 icm fails the same way. i also had a ignition switch go that would kill the engine. i had to hold the key just right to get it home.

Default thanks craby for responding

my ignition switch appears to be functioning normally. I have considered replacing the ignition control module but need to test before replacing. Do not want to throw money at a possibly good part. I need to figure out how to test the ICM though. Any thoughts?
thanks

Once it shuts off does it start right back up or do you have to wait awhile? If you have to wait that is the time you want to do a fuel pressure test and a spark test. If those are fine you will need to get a noid light to test for injector pulse. If you have Fuel pressure, spark and injector signal you should get something, if it wont run it should at least back fire.

Just for fun you might want to tap the MAF sensor lightly with a screw driver handle and wiggle the wiring harness to the MAF sensor.

was thinking mechanic would have tested for those^^^ but if not better do it. when my icm went on the 93 it would die and about 20 minutes later it would start right up. i would get a few miles down the road and it would die. i would get a buddy to come tow me home and when we got back to car it would start.

gorn,
thank you for replying.
the car will sometimes start right back up. other times, it may not start for twelve hours or more. Need to check fuel pressure and replace the fuel filter I think. Any other ideas?
Thanks

I have experienced the same things. as mentioned on my post to gorn, the car will sometimes start right back up. but more often than not, it was 12 hours or more later before it would start. It would seem that this very well may be the ICM

May be a dumb question, but, what is a Noid light?

My '99 with a 3.8 just started to come up with a major skip...sometimes. Plugged my scanner in and came up with a misfire on no. 1 cylinder. So, not sure if a it's a plug, plug wire or injector.
Back when I had a shop switch motors I put in new AC Delco rapid fire plugs and they reused the old wires.

test your fuel pressure. failing fuel pump will also cause what your seeing. pump overheats and decides it doesnt want to go. cools off and its good to go for a time.

noid light flashes when the computer is trying to tell the injector to fire. it plugs into the connector from the injector. https://www.google.com/search?client...UTF-8&oe=UTF-8
