Default SS hood and RAM air intake 96 Z28

I was looking to get an SS hood and RAm air intake for my Z28. I notcied that most of the RAM air intakes specify 98 - 02 Camaros. I asked a few sellers if theit RAm air intakes would work on a 96 Z28 and got no as a reply.

Basically looking for a fully functional SS hood and RAm air system. I checked the SLP web site and while they list both the hood and the intake, I inquried and got a response that they no longer carry the items I'm looking for.

Anyone have any leads? NYC area would be idea.

They have the air intake systems for the 93-97's at yearone.com. They're about 320 bucks. They have the hoods too, but I bought my hood off of ebay, much cheaper. Hope this helps you out.

Honestly, you're no better off with RAM air than you are with a good quality (read: K&N or Moroso) cold air intake. RAM air is only functionaly rammingif you're doing at least ~80 mph, and it's quite a bit more expensive.

Thanks for the leads.

I checked the sites mentioned thus far and found the same issue. The hood I want (SS SLP type) is only offered for 1998 - 2002 models.

I'm trying to get a better understanding why folks who sell SLP type hoods and air intakes for the SS SLP hood specify that these will not work in years prior to 1998.

I'm trying to determine if what ever is causing the restriction can also be replaced or changed as part of the project.

If you wanted to use a 98-02 SS hood you're going to need to do a complete front end conversion, new fenders, front bumer and hood. You should be able to find a 96-97 SS hood for your car and then you won't have to do a whole conversion.

The ss hood you got from ebay did you have to do any modifications to get it to fit? Also what seller did you buy it from? Thanks
