Smile SRS / Derm Module Install

Hi All,

Airbag light is on, suspecting (hopefully) it is the SIR Derm module behind the passenger glove box.

Anyone replaced these personally? General steps: disconnect battery, disconnect fuse, replace module. Am I missing anything? Sounds easy enough, I just really don't want to blow the bags (in my face)....... kinda nervous as I know the DERM module houses a small power supply that could ignite the bags, despite the battery being disconnected.

Thoughts and help appreciated. Very excited to be a part of this forum. I used to have a '00 Z28, some mods, but sold it 13 years ago. Just picked up a '94 LT1 6spd with 11,400 miles. Flawless, just spent 30+ hours polishing and ceramic coating it

Thanks All!

I have not installed this module but I have had my air bag out of my 93 4 or 5 times. If I remember right the air bag has a capacitor that stores power but just for a few seconds. I would give a minute or two with the battery disconnected before unplugging anything. Of course no one in the front seat as you reconnect battery. If you really want to be over kill cycle the key on he first time from the passengers seat.
