Default Spark Plugs WTFreeeak

Car is missing had my mechanic diagnose the problem. Needs new plugs and wires. Good I was so happy it wasnt some coils or module or something that sounded expensive. I said sure how much will that cost... He writes me up an estimate...

435 dollars...

to replace spark plugs....

I used to replace plugs and wires in my 91 camaro for about 50 dollars and I did it by myself.

It's to damn cold in PA right now for me to do them but on the 1999 he says the spark plugs will take 4 hours to get off.

so the diagnoses 50 bucks.. I expect that... but are you serious?

the other 385 dollars is a freakin joke

what do you guys think is that really how much this repair costs?

Well, personally, I think that is way to high to pay to have the plugs changed. On the other hand, I wouldn't do it on anyone else's car for any less! They are a pain in the ****!

I was told around $300 from the dealership. I'm also in PA, so I feel for ya. It's been too cold and too snow covered to work on my car as well. I'm having my bf struggle with them instead on Saturday (it's suppose to hit a whopping 40 degrees!). So yeah. I've been quoted an expensive price, too.

welcome to the 4th gen F body

Is yours a sixer or 8? On the LT1, the passenger side plugs are such a pain in the butt it's one of the reasons I put in Long tube headers.

and yes, being quoted 3-4 hours is not unreasonable if you have stock exhaust manifolds

That's right in the spectrum of what would be charged.specially if an LT-1.pita but doable.

I just had mine done on Monday. New plugs, new wires, fuel filter, air filter, front end alignment...$291.76. But this is West Texas, there's a lot of competition for work and I have a 3.8L engine.

WOW! I need to get out more...or maybe I'm just shopping for OEM level parts. My plugs were like $12 a piece and I think the wires were around $40 or $50.
