Default someone please help!

I having hard startingproblems with my 94 z28, Lt1 Camaro.
I checked for spark at the sparkplug wire with a spark tester, i dont get a spark initially, after i turn on it about 12 times it would jump a spark and thenstart and run. And it does this almost identically every time, about 12 or soturns and then it fires up.
I checked the spark at the coil with the coil wire disconnected from the distributor and it does the same thing, after it turns over for a few seconds the spark will jump the gap and start hitting like it should. So far i have put on a new coil, map sensorand ignition module, I have checked the fuel pressure, 40 when primed and about 35 when running,I am running out of ideas. Its about to drive me nuts!!![&:]
Any ideas or info will be great. Thanks!!!

I had a similar problem only after one hard start, the next time i tried to start it, it wouldnt even start, just my accessories. My ignition wire or something snapped.. had to get a new ignition. As for the optispark i had a leak in my waterpump that was going right on to my opti, my mechanic got it and told me that basically the opti was ****ed and i got it to him just in time.

The previous owner just put a newmsddistributor, msd wires and plugs on it.How often do these things go bad? I cant afford a $300-$500 distributor every 6-8 months.
How do you check out the optispark??

does disconnecting the coil wire from the distributor rule out the optispark?
Because im getting the same problem with the coil wire disconnected the motor has to turn over about 12-14 times before a spark jumps the gap and starts hitting.

yea the problem is that all the shops around here have retards working there. My brother inlaw took his truck to a local shop because it was running bad and they kept it for about a week and told them they couldnt figure out what was wrong with it... I put my fuel pressure gauge on it and it was pegged. bad pressure regulator. They didnt even check the fuel pressure. The first thingtheyshould havechecked. I have more stories from different shops in the area but thats why i reallydont want to take it to a shop, it is hard to find a good mechanic, it is bad when i feel like i could do the same or better job than most of these so called "ase certified" mechanics.

ok from what i have read up on these opti spark distributors the the opti unit gives the signal to the coil to fire. andone sign of a opti going bad is excessive starting time. That could explain why i have to turn the motor over 12-14 times before it gets a spark andstarts.
i have changed the coil and icm, am getting good fuelpressure.
Could my $515 pro-billit MSD Super Duper High Performance Distributor now bea piece of crappaperweight?? This thing is only like a year old. No leakage or anything that i know of has got to it?
Good grief!![:@] Are these things really any better than a stock one other than the billitconstruction?

Well... if thats so.. no offense.. but wouldnt you have found out the problem by now? I got lucky kuz my parents have afriend whos an ASE cert mechanic and he does a damn fine job and doesnt charge me to FIND the problem, only to fix it. You gotta just shop around for mechanics, they should do a free inspection or atleast an inspection that isnt all that expensive shouldnt they? I mean if they honestly think nothing is wrong with the car they shouldnt charge you and send you off kuz their are idiots... idk personal opinion, find a shop.. atleast they have tools and technology that you might not have.. even if your more capable of fixing it yourself... if you knew what the problem was.
