sluggish 1995 Z28
My 5.7L LT1 Camaro has been acting up lately; about 3 months ago the water pump went. I replaced that and the opti. It was still acting off, slow to start and hesitating alot before shifting into gears (mostly overdrive). About a week later, the opti went again, so I replaced it, again.
Still not acting right, I had the Throttle Position Sensor changed. And, Im still having issues with the car. Its not falling flat on its face anymore, but it is slow to launch and sounds/ feels labored when it goes at or above 2k rpm.
My gas mileage is also in the pits (11 mix/ 17 hw), where it is usually alot better
(18 mix/ 29hw).
Any thoughts? I have a sneaking feeling its the opti again, which will be the third time Ive had to change the thing.
The only other thing that jumps out at me that it might be is the transmission, which would suck (monetarily) to have fixed.
I appreciate any thoughts, theories, or suggestions.
Thanks,
Pete

why are you replacing optis so much? Where are you getting them
but..first; get it scanned and see what the computer tells you
also, what else has been done to the car during these repairs and are you doing them yourself?

The first opti got fried when the water pump went; it was completely soaked.
The second, just flat out failed. The car fell flat on its face constantly under any kind of acceleration other than what would be catagorized as "elderly driver". It was an AC Delco opti from autozone.
The one in there now, is also an AC Delco, atleast the cap and rotor is; I have no idea if the electronics on the inside are. I ordered off the net (dont exactly trust autozone with optis at this point).
The computer is code free. The initial water pump threw a high resolution pulse failure code, which is like 016 or something. After that, no additional codes.
Aside from the TPS I have been doing the repairs, with the help of my girlfriends dad, when I can get it. He was a GM master tech prior to having some health issues.
I also have the shop manuals for the 93-97 F body cars, which is a tremendous help.
Im at a bit of a loss, and its going to be awhile before I can get the girlfriend's dad to take another look and listen to the car.
