Question Slight Driveshaft Clink on Accel. - Fix?

I get a Slight Driveshaft Clink on Acceleration, anyone know a Fix? It is as if the shaft is moving forward in the front when I have let off the gas and just tap it slightly, and is totally repeatable. Ring any bells for anyone?

TIA!

did you replace the universals when you swapped in your aluminum shaft (IIRC you did that swap a few months back)

No I haven't replaced them, but that will likely be next -- the donor car had ~95k mi. on it -- but I didn't think that sound would be from U-joints -- guess I don't know what the sound would be like from bad/tired U-joints?

They usually sound like bells, and when the ding becomes a dong, the driveshaft is ready to clang around on the road.

Wink

I think you are telling me that my "clink" is the same as the "ding" or "dong" you are describing -- which could also be a "clang". LOL

Did I get it right?

Yes, they tend to get louder up to where they completely break, and the driveshaft fallsl out.

I hear on my car on the driver side a clank as well. Its sounds like if you were to pieces of rebar and lightly tap them together. Is this the same situation for me?

I've replaced worn/bad u-joints before, and never was one ever very sloppy or making a clink noise. What generally happens first, from running dry, is you'll get chatter marks on the spider (the part the needle bearings in the cap ride on) which will then cause a vibration. With a clink, I'm expecting it to be play in the rear differential, or maybe your driveshaft slip yoke is close to bottomed out and whacking the tail housing on the trans.

Question

To be honest, THIS is what I *think* it is -- what would be the resolution for that? It doesn't seem like there's anything that can be done... I only noticed this sound after swapping driveshafts...
