Shifter problem...
For some reason if it is cold out and my car has been sitting for awhile....the shifter does not want to come out of park. Once the car warms up it finally will shift out of park. Anyone know why it would do that? It's not so much a problem in the summer...but in the fall and especially winter it is a pain in the *** to get it out of park.

could be the shift cable is freezing up, than once theres enough heat in the area it thaws out.

Could be the shifter interlock (what frees the shifter when you step on the brake pedal) is hanging up or malfunctioning. It's below the shifter plate on the console, try unplugging it and see if the shifter then works. You're looking for this: http://shbox.com/trans/park_lock1.jpg

Ok, Thanks!

Let us know if it was the shifter interlock.

I'll let you know....I am pretty sure that's what it is. It seems like the shifter gets hung up on something and I have to wiggle the shifter for a bit and then it comes out of park.
