i wanted to get a shift kit for my 2000 camaro but one of my friends was telling me it wouldn't make a difference cuz the computer would override it is that true?

Get a Corvette servo and you'd be better off just tuning your computer to shift firmer. Shift kits for an electronically controlled trans are indeed a waste.

Tuning your computer is better. Why you want a shift kit anyhow? All it'll do is make your tranny shift hard as **** and wear it out quicker

The computer determines how fast the transmission shifts. A shift kit just makes it firmer which can be done with the computer as well. Shift kits are retarded imo... I don't see why people are like OMG SHIFT KIT YEAH!

You can get a Flowmaster cat-back and it will definitely wake your car up as far as sound. If the pipes are mandrel bends, then you'll pick up some power as well.

80 bucks is a pretty good deal for a Power Programmer. And by the way, you are altering/tuning the computer with it as well.
I had one with a Camaro in the past. I firmed up the shifts with it, but I wouldn't consider it hard as ****. It grabbed pretty well at full throttle, but it wasn't nearly as strong at partial throttle shifts.
And the jury is still out as far as wear on the trans. The programmer (through the computer) increases line pressure in the trans to make it shift harder. Some will argue that the clutch packs will slip less with higher pressure and a firmer shift, and I do agree on that point. Like anything else though, as a component is made beefier or more radical, the likelihood of wear or breakage will pass further down the drive train.

i did get the cat back exhaust but i wanted it to be a little louder i was thinking about LT headers but i also want to lower it and i dont want them to scrap
