Security light
Okay everyone, I have a question. There is a Kenwood stereo in my car that's been in there since I've had it. The security light has been on since I've had it also. How do you turn it off? And did the aftermarket radio cause this? I tried hooking the old radio that was in it up (it was laying in the back) and it didn't work. If the aftermarket radio caused this what can I do about it or how do I shut it off? Thanks!

The aftermarket radio didn't cause the security light to come on.
The security light is for the PASSKEY vehicle anti-theft system. Your ignition key has a resistor pellet which engages contacts in the lock cylinder and provides info to the PASSKEY module behind the dash.
If the wrong resistance value is read (due to having the wrong key, dirty/damaged contacts, bad wiring, etc.) the PASSKEY module turns on the security light and won't allow the starter to work.
If your car's security light is on all the time but the car starts and runs, it sounds like the system is fubar or someone has bypassed it.
BTW the PASSKEY lock cylinder doesn't like big, heavy key chains.

Oh ya...I remember now someone took a resistor out of a firebird and stuck it in there under the dash before I got it that makes sense now. The picture is it. What do I do to turn the light off or can I?
