Default Security Light

I'm not sure if it's a problem or not but the other day I started my car and the Security light on the right side stayed on.. so I turned the car off and started it back up and it stayed on again. So I parked it overnight came back to go to school in the morning and it didn't stay on. Any ideas? I've got an aftermarket alarm system that I put in when I got my car about 8 months ago but have never had any problems with it at all. Anyone know what causes the Security light to come on so maybe I can do some checks to make sure nothing is starting to go bad or what not? Thanks

Why did you put an alarm system on a car that already has a better system from the factory?

If the security litegoes on when you turn the key on, it indicates that the factory security module is not getting the proper reading from the pellet on your key. This deactivates the starter and prevents the injectors from firing.

Try cleaning the key and the lock, and if you have one, try a spre key.

I put in an after market alarm firstbecause Iget a huge discount oncar electronics andbought itand had it installed for 1/3 ofretail plusit has proximity and shock sensors that willalert me through my 2-way remote when my car is being messed with. I go to a hugecollege where car theft and vandalism are a daily occurance. I know that the factory alarmwon't let them steal the car because of the chip inthe key but it doesn't let me know when someone is stealing the stuff in my car.. Plus remote trunk release is nice even ifI ambeing lazy . I'll checkthe chip in the keyand cleanit up. Thanks for the help
