Rough start 95 3.4
Hey everyone I was just wondering in the morning or when my car is cold it will some time take 3 may 4 cranks to get it started after that it runs fine for the rest of the day. I'm thinking it may be the fuel pump, or fuel filter. Does this sound right or should I be checking somewhere else?

Before you start the car cycle the key on twice, leaving it on for 3-5 second each time. If the car then fires right off the check valve is not working. Check valve is part of the fuel pump. The check valve going bad is not a indicator that the pump itself is going bad and is going to leave you sitting.
If cycling the key to the on position has no effect you could have an issue with a crank sensor or a ICM. |
Thanks I believe that's what it is because I let the car set a few seconds so I hear the pump start this morning and it fired up the second try with it being cold. Normally it's three - four tries before it'll go.

My car has been like that since I installed the last fuel pump 3 years ago. It was the third airtec pump I installed. It is a defective check valve. The only reason I did not return it was because it was so smooth I did not was to risk another loud one. I am so use to turning the key on and waiting a few seconds I don't even think about it anymore.

I believe that's what it is and appreciate the help I'm going to live with it for now (probably replace during Christmas break). I just purchase the car about a month ago for 1500 bucks and other than this problem all I've done is changed the valve cover gaskets, intake manifold gasket, and vehicle speed sensor so I'm pretty happy with it so far. I bought it to give it to my little sister on her 16th birth day this up coming February I just want to make sure it's a dependable car before I set her out on the road with it. This is the first Camaro I've ever owned or driven but I'm seriously eye balling getting a V8 manaul for myself now sometime pretty soon in the future. But thanks again for all the help it's really appreciated!
