Default Removing ac compressor!

HI,

I took the car to the mechanic to install an AC clutch, he said we have to remove the Radiator or the fan to take out the AC compressor. but I dont want to touch the Radiator at all, since it took me 2 years to reach a point that there is no water leakage from the cooling circulations.

any way, my point is can he remove the AC compressor install the clutch and check it if it has any leakage and reinstall it without removing the radiator and the fans?

Thx

You do not say if its a v8 or v6 but I can tell you I personally replace mine in a V6 3800 and While it was a PIA and took multiple extensions, swivels and bloody knuckles to get to the bolts from under the car, the radiator and cooling system did not have to be broke open.

You should be able to get away with just removing the fans. But, with a lift, he should be able to reach it from the bottom. Either way, it's going to be difficult no matter what to remove it.

If its a v8 three is absolutely no way to remove that compressor unit without taking out the radiator. S I'm talking from exp. Did it last year.

ya it's V8, I guess I will not fix the AC so.
I prefer to keep the water cycle without any leakage and overheating of the car.

thx guys :-)

If you have the time, its certainly worth the effort. Plus it will help retain some value.

From the looks of it, I dont see why the radiator would need to be removed. Cooling fans maybe, but those are easy.
