rear end swap
so i been having rubbing in the back passenger side, im sure its the barrings. I am just gonna replace the whole rear end. I'm wondering if i can replace the 2002 camaro with a ??????92??monte carlo :O?

There is no 1992 Monte Carlo, the last year of the 4th gen was 1988 and it was rebooted with the Lumina in 1995. The 4th gens (up to 1988) I believe had the same 7.5" rear end internals, but different housings making a 4th gen Camaro's 10 bolt and a 4th gen Monte's non-interchangeable. You would be better off just getting another 10 bolt from an fbody, as the strength between the two would be the same.
Someone do correct me if I am wrong, I don't know much about Monte's past what I said above, so it would be best to do some research on your own. |
Curious why you picked a non existent "92" model as the donor? It's like you had a line on one or something, which would have been a good trick.
And yeah you got it F.D., 88 was the last of the rear wheel drive Monte's. |
i believe it 88 to 02 camaro will fit depending on traction control or not. s10 i think will but dont know what years

i dont keep up with monte's so i didnt know what year it was, my uncle wasnt sure about it too. Which is why i am on forums to ask all my camaro fan friends. thank you. for all your help

Pretty sure 3rd and 4th gen Camaro rearends will cross fit as far as mounts are concerned, but the 3rd gen unit is narrower by a coupla few inches.
S10 might work too, but it's hung on leaf springs, which means welding on coil spring mounts and the horiz. & panhard bar brackets. |
