rear end differences
Is there any difference ( Other than gear ratio) in a rear from a V6 to say a SS or Z? Im looking at one from a V6 with disc brakes for 75 bucks that howells, but thats fine since i would be rebuilding it anyway. And yes i know its a good deal wider.

Just depending on the year, you may have a Series 2 or Series 3 carrier.
The main difference is the type of rear end (it's an 02 you said so it's a Series 3 btw). Check the RPO codes for a G80 code. The G80 tells you that the rear end is a limited slip differential. If it doesn't have it, then it is an open rear end. You can also look for the GU code. It will either be GU4 GU5 or GU6. 3.08 3.23 and 3.42 gear ratios respectively.

GU4 is 2.73
Other than that and the carrier, depending on whether the car had TCS or not will determine whether or not the rear end has a place for a single rear wheel speed sensor, but I don't think that's going to matter for your application.
