well i'd start by pulling the diff cover and having a look see if anything has fallen out, c clips are know to 'pop' off and teeth may have chipped. Also check it has oil inside!!

yea im guessing it just needs lube.. my buddy is selling me his 95 Camaro and thats what he said the rear end just started doing. so he stopped driving it and now its just sitting there waiting for me to buy i just need to know if it would be a good $400 investment. (including Lucas Gear Oil) Body is in excellentcondition, it runs good and the interior is good. Any comments or advice? Its a 3.4L

What have you done to the rear end that could have caused this?

yes low fluid will cause grinding and overheating issues (which leads to smoke).

More info is needed. Like where is the smoke comming from, when do you hear the noise. How are your brakes? Drum or disk?

i would say the rearend is toast. its a v6 so its not the additive. thats for posi units. look of a good used rearend, preferably from a z28 with 342 gears.

Good luck I doubt it will work by adding oil. Most likely it will need a new rear.

if da C clip popped off the axle would of slid completely out with the wheel on it... especially if its drum brake.. them c clips dont come out unless you take the pinion (spider) gear shaft out and slide the axle inward 1/4"
