hey guys ive been wondering what r the rules of a rear bulkhead? like thickness? does it need to be completely sealed? what type of metal? does it need to be welded, riveted, bolted sealed with glue wat? anything you know im thinking about making one since we have alot of the resources to do it.

 

well the rear bulkhead is supposed to be water tight to keep the boat from sinking if you have a massive hole in her stern. lol. im not real sure what you arrr refering to. explain better please. were is it located? are you talking about the firewall?

Heh, heh, you's guys are funny!
The rear bulkhead, on older cars like mine for instance, is the vertical panel behind the rear seat backrest that separates the trunk area.
Now, your cars have fold down rear seats, and there isn't a trunk separation like on older cars. But I think they still refer to that area behind the back seat the bulkhead (the whoop-de-doo area in front of the gas tank).
Considering all that, I still don't know what the guy is wanting to know, what rules? Is he setting the car up for race?

 

the rear bulkhead is lik wat 69 said but on fourth gens wen relocating the battery to the trunk you either need a seal battery box or apiece of metal that seperates the driver compartment from the trunk known as the rear bulkhead. i was lookin for the rules for it to be nhra legal

 

Check the NHRA site and see if they have downloadable PDFs for your target race class. As far as I know in cars like ours we need to have a permenate mounted battery box that is sealed and vented to the outside if you are using a lead acid type battery and just perminate mounting and securing of a gel type batt. Check the rules tho I could be wrong, it has been a long time since I was working on a drag car.
