I get plenty of horses of my z28 but im lookin for something that will quickin the response time from the second i punch the gas to when it actually gets up n goes, anyone got suggestions

yeah, gears would be the best and not all that expensive either.

Strip out any dead weight that you don't need. Inertia is your enemy!

 

Mr.Locs, since its an auto the hesitation i think you're talking about might just be the transmission down shifting. Thats normal and i dont think you can do anything about that, but gears will make it feel a little more responsive and could help you a little in the quarter. Since you have an auto i would go with 3.73's.
Trammelz28, There are many places but i buy my stuff from either texas-speed.com or thunderracing.com. They both sell gears and anything else you want for these cars.

 

Im not sure about this but does your z28 have an ASR switch? If so make sure its disengaged, cuz that will make you start out in 2nd gear.

I would definately go with 3.73 and look around through some parts magazines for a shift kit for your auto, just dont get anything that will make driving it uncomfortable
