Problems with scanning a 1993 CAMARO 3.4L V6
I recently bought a 1993 CHEVROLET CAMARO 3.4L V6. Since the ABS INOP light is on I started thinking about scanning the car for error codes.
So I read about it on different forums and saw that it should be possible to use the paper clip trick to read out the error codes.
When I tried this, the fan started as expected but the Service Engine Soon light didn't blink at at all, just stayed on the entire time. Any thoughts on why or what to do here?
Thought about whether or not they might have changed the chip and this could cause the above paper clip trick to fail? I have also tried to use TunerPro RT to connect to the car, but haven't been able to get a connection. If they have changed the chip, will it be configured as a 94 chip and therefore one might need those definitions files? What is the standard when changing chip on the 1993 V6 Camaro?
Got a bit longer than intended. But any help on the matter, how to proceed what to check next or so would be valuable.
Best Regards,
Marc

Paper clip is just for ECM codes (engine control module) The ABS codes will take a high end scan tool. Although they are so old now you may be able to find on reasonably priced. When I would work on these cars back in the day I had a 30k IBM CAMs system the dealers was required to own. I believe Snap on and OTC had some hand held units that would read abs codes also. Bear and Sun both had stand alone on wheels units.

Yes the light turns on, but no flashing occurs. Just on constantly. Heard that it doesn't work on the 94, but from what I've read it should work on the 93. Could there be some problems with the ECM or is that unlikely? Do you know if it should work on all 93:s?

That's what I was wondering. Only read about it being possible to the 93 V8 everywhere, but nothing clearly about the V6. Any source for this? Would be great to be able to rule out this as a possible malfunction of the ECM.

Thanks. Well a bit confusing, under the section 6.4 under general information they talk about how to flash the codes. Then under the subsections for the V6 only the scan is mentioned, but under the section for the V8 flashing is mentioned along with scanning. Not quite sure how to interpret that though.
