Price lowering.

Price lowering.
Any of you guys have a good system for making a custumer lower the price on a vihicle? I mean when you're buying from a private owner. If you could post anything I might be able to use it along with my system.
Thanks for the help,
Sebastian

You're still looking at that $5,500 Camaro?
Take a good long time to look at the car. That'll give you time to establish somewhat of a rapport with the seller, and hopefully find something wrong with the car that you can use in the negotiations.
Hold your emotions, and DO NOT act interested or excited at all. I always use the "I can take it or leave it" attitude when looking at a car. Having someone with you where you can talk (where you know the seller can barely hear you) about "the other cheaper car" (wink-wink) that you are going to look at next can help too. Trust me, a seller who needs to sell is going to want to hear what you are saying. Act excited, and the seller knows he's got you on the hook. I would hit him with a $4,500 offer and see how much he flinches. Some people talk about insulting a seller with a low-ball offer. But I've never had one tell me to take a hike, especially now, it's a buyers market and a lot of sellers are desperate. I'm sure I'd more than likely get that car in the upper $4's, which is what you want to aim for.

I've bought and sold a bunch of cars. Here is a fact
we all want to buy low and sell high. Remember that when you are trying to buy as well as when you try to sell.
A good rule of thumb of a successful negotiation is when you both feel as if you left money on the table. That is, both the buyer and seller feel a little bit cheated. That is when you have a good deal.

Put on or practice a good POKER FACE ! All you have to loose is your MONEY !! The guys above are experienced at this, as you can see. Do some homework and get to know your car, a good defence is a good offence, GOOD LUCK !!
