Power Steering Fluid spraying everywhere

1 Attachment(s)
For a while I've had a leak but couldn't find it but finally found it. In the attached picture it's coming from the backside of the pump thing that has 5 metal hoses attached to it next to the power steering fluid reservoir. I would just like to know what that pump part is called so I can go replace it and be done with this mystery. Thank you in advance!

It's from a 1999 V6 3800 if that matters

I know nothing about these new cars.
where do those lines go? could it be something to do with the braking system?

is the brake fluid low? looks like a abs module. need to check your fluids to find out if its steering or brakes.

That honestly looks like transmission fluid more than anything. But, if you've been filling your power steering fluid up because it's been leaking, it's not coming from that box. That's the ABS/TC module. I would say there's either a crack in the reservoir or the pump is sling shotting it out.

Yeah nevermind. I thought it was coming from the backside of that box but it actually sprays up from one of the power steering hoses that's underneath the power steering reservoir. It looks like it just goes from the engine/pump and makes a 180 to the front axle. It seems to be a rubber hose with metal ends and it's spraying from a very small pinhole. It only sprays when there's a load on the pump. I wonder how much it'll cost to replace that damn hose

depends on if its the pressure side or the return side. 35-50 bucks for the pressure side and 15-25 for return.

Awesome. Thank you for the link. Looks like it'll be the pressure side. Still cheaper than what I was thinking. And of course because I was trying to figure out what that damn box was yesterday, I disconnected the hoses to find a part number to no avail. This morning I went to move the car and no brakes :O and now knowing it's the ABS/TC module, it makes sense and now I need to bleed my brakes :/

craby 01-18-2015 02:36 PM

oh boy, you may have to take it to the dealer, try standard bleed and see what that does. the abs scanner is way different and its needed to reset sometimes.

Should not need to go to a dealer. Any mechanic with a "real" scan tool can put the ABS system in bleed mode.
