Sounds more like your running rich and unburnt fuel is igniting in the cat

you cant use an obd2 reader on your car because the comp is actually obd1 with an obd2 port... gheyyy i know lol anyways you can use an obd1 scanner and 2 jumper wires to read codes... http://shbox.com/1/xraycable.jpg

yep if its popping on throttle let up then your most likely running rich. that could be a number of things. you should get it scanned for codes. could be 02 sensors, egr, evap, maf, map, air filter, plugged cat, plugged muffler, exhaust leak, sticky or dirty injector/s, fuel pressure to high, and could be a failing gas cap.

I'm pretty sure I got an exhaust leak I seafoamed it to find the leak and no luck. I never replaced my driver side o2 sensor after the header and I'm sure its failing. I can smell the exhaust s bit in the air vents.

Mine does the same thing. In all gears when I let off at high rpm's it pops. I've been told it could be for a few reasons; exhaust leak of which I have yet to find one, running rich, or someone told me it's normal due to pressure in the exhaust when at high rpm's and suddenly letting off....so I'm not really sure either.
