Ok my 95 camaro v6 3.4l manual tranny makes this wierd popping noise whenever I rev the engine in neutral... Sounds like its coming from the exhaust but im not too sure. Also say Im in 1st gear cruising down my street and I reach 3 RPMS then let go of the gas the noise starts up a little then too.. Any ideas on what this mite be?

 

my muffler made a weird raspy noise due to the shields inside breaking or moving around (thats what i was told). i got a new muffler and it fixed that problem.

 

Your car is probably running rich, see any black smoke?

 

Nope no black smoke or nothing out the tail pipe.. My oil pressure is always higher than normal tho...

 

is it doing it when letting off the throttle only?

 

Yea only when I let off.... You know what the problem is?

 

what exhaust do you have??? when id bring the rpms up in gear and let off the gas it would rumble but it was the exhaust echoing through the 3 inch pipe

 

I have the same thing. I have no muffler so i assume its that.

Its just a stock exhaust on a 95 V6 3.4L and its not really like a rumble its like literally a popping noise like popcorn or somethin lol. Ive been told my catalytic converter needs to be changed bcus of lack of power in 4th and 5th gear going up steep hills so I was guessing it could be the noise also?
