poping noise
so i got my camaro used in Nov. of 06. it only has 89,000 miles on it its its not like its taken hell. tonight i was coming home from work and i got the free way and i herd a POP. it sounded like it came from under the passenger seat. i thout it was just the seat it self shaking likes it does. but still it was a little diffrent. i got off the exit and into a parking lot and turned the car off. turned it back on and started to drive. the car shifted (auttomatic BTW) and nothign so ok. i get back on the free way and same story, same pop same place. any ideas. please i hope its not my transmission i make 7.50 and hour i cant afford a new one.

RE: poping noise
What year is it?. If it's comming from under the passenger seat, more than likely it's your cat, the mounding bracket may have come loose or something...check it out because that cat sits right under the lump in your floor.

RE: poping noise
could be the timing couldnt it (correct me if im wrong) my cars timing is a little off and when i floor it and then let off it pops. that or it could be an exhaust leak. take by a exhaust shop and ask them if they can just look at it. i had an exhaust leake and took it by a shop and the put it on the rack and they said there was one exhaust leak and i asked them how much to fix it and he said dont worry about it. fixed it for free took him like 30 seconds. just welded it back up. where one pipe whent into a cat it had a small hole. not even a hole just where the weld had broke or something mines a 96 z.

1bad69Z28, the popping you're experiencing with your car happens on all LT1's, it's because when you let off, there's unburned fuel that gets into your exhaust and ingnites there, making the popping sound.
Once again red star, it sounds like an issue with the cat that sits under the passenger seat, just off hand I dont' know what, but you should check it out.
