Default Phalens build/progress thread

Pictures will be up later but I can't sleep and I've been wanting to do this for awhile

Bought the car in 09 and so far have mostly done aesthetic modifications and paint now I am moving on to more performance based mods

Tomorrow I am ordering a hooked catback and that will be my only modification besides a chip and a k&n Cai that I picked up for 50 bucks

A full tune up was done within about 2000 miles ago and I need some help on deciding where to go next, I am also getting some jegs spark plug wires to complete my tune up but besides that I need help

I want to start with the trans since I feel mine is not functioning properly, it seems to shift to 2nd way to quickly (like 10mph under very light throttle) and the speedo refuses to read correctly no matter what I do, I am thining of doing a moderate rebuild with a shift kit and maybe a stall if someone would like to steer me in the right direction (this is a 700r4/4l60 btw) I am not that concerned with the comfortably of driving the car after all of this is installed, its a camaro if I wanted comfortable id buy a Lexus, durability is obviously a factor though, it will be very very unlikely the car will be getting any serious power until years from now so I don't need parts that are made to handle 8 zillion horsepower though on occasion I do like to manual shift the auto if this means anything

Thanks for any help, phalen

4. The throttle valve cable controls transmission pressure. Adjusting this cable is the most important step when installing a 700R4, 4L60 or 200-4R transmission.

#5. The final step is to adjust the throttle valve cable. The cable must be adjusted so it is pulled fully out at wide-open throttle. To make sure disconnect the cable, hold the throttle wide open with your left hand, pull the cable fully out with your right hand and see if the cable end lines up with the button on the throttle lever. The cable should also be pulled out 3/8 to 1/2 of an inch at idle.
