Ok, so I want to get some high gloss body paint and color my Z28 emblems red. (Later ill do the calipers and get red CAMARO inlays) What i was wondering is, how should i go about taking off the emblem, what type/brand ofpaint should i use and what kind of adhesive do i need to get them to stick?

its gonna be hard as heck to get paint to really make them shine and make them durrible i would say powder coating would be your best bet but ive never priced that as far as the adhesive to get them to stick i have no idea but most emblems can be taken off with a heat sorce and fishing line

Oh.. Well they dont shine right now.. so any shine at all is better than no shine lol. I know someone who used like duplicolor to paint their calipers, anyone have any experience with it?

Nice to finally see what you look like Josh.![Big Grin](https://camaroforums.com/forum/images/smilies/biggrin.gif)
Anyways, use a combination of an old credit car and some fishing line to get the old badges off. Once they're off, use goo gone, and or lighter fluid to remove the excess adhesive left on the fender, if you're really steady handed, a scraper works nicely (it's a one sided blade that won't scratch your paint, if you do it right, and removes gook and adhesive crap). Take the emblem and use steel whool, or something else, to roughen up the surface a little, not a lot, just enough to make it rough enough for some primer to adhere to. Then, get some primer and prime them, two layers will do nicely, after the first coat, use some 1000 grit sand pape to roughen it up a little, then apply the second coat. Then, using the color of your choosing, paint the emblem, again, after each layer using 1000 grit to roughen up the surface and take out defects, 3-5 layers should be more than enough. Lastly put two coats of sealer/clear coat to make the emblem shine. Use 2000 grit paper after the first layer to make it finish out properly and remove bubbles.
Now, to reapply the emblem get all the old adhesive off the back (do this before painting), then use some 3M adhesive spray, round at home depot, and cover the back of the emblem in the spray, then just stick it back in place, don't over spray though as you don't want a mess forming around the emblem. Double sided 3M tape could work as well, but the spray will give a cleaner look.
To do the calipers but caliper primer, and paint, it's specifically made for break calipers and heat, then paint them, don't know if they make a clear coat of not, but the primer and paint is all you should need for them. Just don't forget to clean the calipers with soap and water before painting them, same thing goes for the badges as well.

Doin great, finally got around to porting my intake lol. I'm nearly finished with the upper intake, but my grinding stone warped, so I'm gonna have to pick up another one, or two, at work tomorrow so I can finish the upper intake, and polish out the lower. Hoping to get everything in by the end of this month, but I may have to wait till November, but in any sense, it should be a very nice gain, hoping for around 350 rwhp.
