overheating , oil change
Okay im new to this and just got my first car and i know nothing about cars lol but i had a question. I just got a 93 camaro it came with like a fan for whenever it overheated i guess, i was told it could be a problem with the radiotor or something. Anyway the fan was doing its job , whenever the marker(on the odometer) would rise a little bit i would turn on the fan and it would drop it back down. However i took it to get an oil change two days ago and since then the fan doesnt have much effect anymore it still turns on though. when i was at the shop the mechanic also told me my car had a leak but they couldnt really tell what it was until they cleaned my engine and stuff , so i passed on that because i didint have the money to do so haha. What could have caused the fan to stop having effect, the oil change?

if you got a leak you better check the coolant level in the radiator. find the leak.

^^^ Agree. The coolant inside the engine keeps the engine cool. The fan cools off the coolant inside the radiator. If the coolant level inside the engine block is way down, no fan is going to keep the engine cool.

We cannot see a picture that is on you desk top. You need to store the pic online at a place like photobucket.
Showing the puddle of coolant is going to help much anyway. It could be a defective pump, it could be that the pump was not installed right and the gasket is leaking, it could be the hose connection, a pin hole or crack in the hose, it could have nothing to do with the pump and it could be leaking from the intake, there is also a plastic connector that is a common issue right behind the water pump…. No one can tell you what is leaking. The area needs cleaned and it needs a pressure test if you cannot see it the leak. If you drive a car that does not hold pressure in the coolant system you are risking damage too the motor. If the leak is the intake and it starts to leak into the motor the motor will not be repairable. |
