Opinion needed please
 

so my aunt has a 1995 camaro that has been sitting at least 5 or 6 years, i really would like to have it and fix it up, but im trying to decide if its worth it. it has not been started or drivin since, it needs a paint job for sure, but i dont think anything else is wrong, i know i will need to have it towed to a mechanic to have it fixed and looked at, but when she last drove it there was nothing wrong with it. will it be worth it? aw yea it has 85,000 miles on it

85K is not alot of miles these days. Depends on how well the engine was maintained. If it has been sitting that long, I would think you would also need fresh tires, hoses, belt, oil and filter, air filter and radiator flush. Even with all that, it is better than making monthly payments. You can take your time and do the little things once you get the basic maintenance done. If you can change the oil and filter put on the hoses and belt, you will save yourself a couple hundred dollars of mechanic fees.

Also depends on what you are looking for. If you want to do some wrenching or if you are looking for a buy and ride deal.

At the 5 year point you really should pull the gas tank. If the fuel is gummed up it will wipe out the fuel pump almost instantly.

yea i def wana get it running, i just didnt know if it would be worth the risk, how much do u think the whoses and everything else would run me? and also would i be able to change the front end of it to the newer 98-02 body?

New hoses, antifreeze, belts, plugs and wires, oil and filter, air filter should be able to be purchased for around $250 give or take for stock system. Depends on where you buy them and what brand you get as well as if the oil is synthetic or dino oil. Save $25 for a Haynes manual to help out.

Yes you can convert the front to the 98-02 version but you will need the front bumper cover, hood and both fenders as well as all the necessary lights and mounting brackets. Google it, there are a couple write ups with pictures showing exactly what you will need to do.

Personally, I like the older front myself.

Even if she's a v6,it'll have plenty of power.

If your a beginner mechanic,all the required maintenance to put her on the road it perfect for ya,simple.

As stated above,I too like the older,93-97ish front end.
