Default ok ok

so since everybody has like dogged me to go with my first instinct in keeping my LT1, i'll work on it.

but most importantly, ever now and then one of my buddies and i talk about gettign a nice race going in the mornings down a straight (narrow) country road. he has a 2003 Pontiac Grand Prix GTP (supercharged 3800) so obviously its always close (since even though its an auto it has teat performacne shift)

So does anybody have any good street racing tips, like how to start off the line right (with a 6 speed of course) and whats the optimum shift range (since red line starts at like 5200)

thanks. I really just dont want to get whooped by a V6, even if the 3800 is a good engine esepcialyl when supercharged, and i've seen a lot of videos where it goes both ways.

you should be noticably faster than him if he is stock. the lt1 should have almost a full second on a stock GTP, they are right around 15 second cars stock.

of course if he has modded any then he wont take long to catch up to u. what has he done?

if you are on the street try to find the sweet spot for ur tires (rpm) and then just dump the clutch from that rpm and romp on it. they tell you slipping is the best method, but you will end up burning ur clutch, and really the slip should be so fast its basically a dump anyway. on street tires you wont hurt anything.

Hes bone stock.. But the supercharger shouldnt that help him out on the lower gears? I know he slows down at around 80 ish and i slow about 115-120...

So just dumping the clutch around.. oh 4-4.5k? so i take it traction control should stay off then?

Dump the clutch at 4.5k? You will just light the tires up.....

thats way too high. 2-2.5k is probably better. I know with my DR's on the street i can dump at 3k and get a good hook. you should be lower than that with street tires, so 2.5k would be good. I know my friend, last time at the track, he dumped at 2k and got a good hook. Somewhere around that range would be good for u

You believe wrong. Peak torque is madeLOWER in the RPM range (around 2-3k rpm) and peak HP is madeHIGHER up(around 5k rpm). I think this statement should prove once and for all Spartan's lack of basiccomprehension of how engines work....

Damn... i wrote peak power rpms backwards and i lost my comprehension of how an engine works.. that makes alot of sense.. good job..
