Wink oil pressure gauge?

my oil pressure gauge is not working at all i dont know if the pump is bad or if its something much simpler... like the actual gauge lol. anyway, the "check gauges" light is on and i think its because the oil pressure gauge is not working but i dont wanna assume anything so i wanna fix the oil pressure gauge and see if the "check gauges" light is on. so my question is where do i start how do i check the oil pump without taking it off and i have the93 3.4 v6 if that matters. any info will be appreciated thanks to all

These cars have an oil pressure sending unit, try checking that out. Majority of cases that may be the only problem. It should be right next to your oil filter.

Yeah, try the sending unit first. Cheap and easy to replace. You can see it here partially covering the blue oil filter.

You should check your computer for codes, I do not rememeber a code for oil pressure or oil pressure gage in the older Pre OBD1 systems. Infact I don't think the the gage is connected to the computer system. There is seperate oil sending unit that will cut fuel pressure if it reads zero so you most likely do not have "zero oil pressure" Not to mension that if you really had no oil pressure your valves would make a LOT of noise about it.

Not to hijack a thread but I'm having a similar problem. My 02 3.8 is having issues with the oil gauge. Is the oil pressure switch in the same location?

I don't get a check gauges light. My oil gauge just doesn't operate as it should. For example if I turn the car on, then turn it off. The gauge will stick at halfway, then if I cycle the key it will drop back down.

if the gage is failing and not the sensor then the computer should be getting a reading from the oil pressure switch.
