Default Oil....Oil everywhere.

My camaro woes keep buliding. Back story: My buddy and I changed out my oil not too long ago (about a Month and 1/2 ago) And she was running like a dream. Right after that i stared having my misfire issues. And thats when i notice that my camaro was just pouring out oil. But it would stop and there would still be oil left in the pan (Checked daily). I have been told that my pan or seals might need to be replaced but that was when it was a small leak. I had the head valves (I belive thats the name im looking for) replaced and the leak slowed alot. About a week ago is the last time it just flowed like no tomarrow. So any ideas guys? Maybe i over-filled it when we changed it? But still i know that the car isnt designed to dump oil and pollute the earth (lol). There is also still oil pressure when i start the car and drive.

I don't suppose you still have the old oil filter sitting in a garbage can in the corner of the garage? When you remove an old filter, sometimes the gasket can stick to the block and not come down with the filter. If you don't notice, and spin a new filter on, that first gasket will sooner than later blow out and cause a big leak. Could be that, or could just be a big coincidence that your oil gusher started shortly after the oil change.

best way to track a oil leak is to clean the motor up good, run it and then look for it. sometimes it can leak above and look like its from below. oil pressure switch has been known to fail and leak but thats from the back.

Hey guys old thread....my bad ive been busy...but i made a huge ROOKIE mistake -__- Its not oil that is leaking, its coolant from my resvior tank, i mistook it for oil due to the brown color (Coolant change time)... Im a novice mechanic at BEST, so could anyone point me in the right direction as to where the res is located so i Can JB weld that puppy up. My uncle was a mechanic for 40 + years and he said it would do the trick if i didnt want to replace it. Unfourtunatly he cant stop by and help so im turning to my newly adopted camaro fam. Thanks guys
