Default Oil

I know this must sound really silly but oh well. I want to change my oil and I have no clue what type of oil to use. My car is a '95 if that makes any difference.

My mechanic told me to do Valvoline10w50.. ive got a bit of a valve tick tho.. Id use some nice synthetic. I used 10w30 conventional at my last oil change and my car kinda ran like crap, another reason why my mechanic advised i find some synthetic if i could.

Different oil is not going to have little or no effect on the way the car runs; however, you need the right grade and type of oil to properly lubricate your engine and prevent wear and damage. If your engine ran poorly on 10W30 it is going to run just as poorly with 10W50, but if it is burning oil it will burn a little less.
