Does the cable come with any installation software of do you just go back to the site and download from there?
That was the disappointing part, no instructions. You will need to go to www.moates.net to down load the drivers and instructions. If you are wanting to get started right away I would go and get the driver. They use a usb circuit from a 3rd party (no big deal) so you will be redirected to that site for the driver and MSwindows tech info. I think it took me 45 minutes to figure it out e.i. read up on the cable, download the driver, set up the usb comm port, get freescan talking to comm1. It worked the first time I hooked it up. You will be able to watch all of you sensor data, battery voltage, temps, rpm, etc.

I could not get my DTCs though. I am pretty sure my PCM is malfunctioning. I have all of my sensor voltages from the PCM, as measured with a volt meter, but the PCM is not reporting DTCs through the ALDL port but the SES light fire off as soon as I turn the key even after I reset the PCM by pulling the fuse.

I go back and check it out. What operating system are you using?

Sorry I am a telecommunications/networking engineer so maybe I overstated the simplicity.

Go here:
USB Driver Troubleshooting 101 « Moates Support

Read it but don't do anything yet. Just try to comprehend it.

RIGHT Click the FTDI Chip Home Page link in the second paragraph. Select "Open in a new Tab". This will save you the hassle of getting back to www.moates.net...............

Nevermind I just got your message.

Did you try it on your car?
