OBD1 interface aldl cables
Good convo, yet nothing to do with the topic. I know AKM makes very dependable cables as well as moates, they both run $85 plus change for product and shipping. The cable from ALDL which runs $60 seemed like a good deal, but I found a few posts on forums saying/accusing the cable of not being able to hold up, especially when used for reflashing and programming purposes. IDK what the problem would be or if it's just a few bad eggs in the bunch. AKM or Moates appears to be the route I'm going to go. Think I'm liking Moates
ALDU1 and CABL1 XtremeALDL and NewCABL1 Combo
"This is for any pre-1995 (OBD1) GM vehicle. Everything except the 1995 LT1. You should be able to datalog all of them, and reflash the 94 LT1 as well. Comes with XtremeALDL and NewCABL1 (RJ45/Moates-specific new style). There's a switch on the side which allows you to select 10k (across pins A&B of ALDL) or 'Open' mode. You use the 10k mode for older TBI and TPI setups, and the 'Open' for newer Speed density and LT1 stuff. This item can be used with TunerPro RT, TTS Datamaster, TunerCat reflash for LT1, WinALDL, and EFI Live V4(OBD1)."

I received the xtreme ALDL today. Takes some driver set up and if you use freescan you will need to open devise manager and change the comm port setting emulated by the usb driver to comm1. Another tip is to be sure you set the Freescan Control for comm mode to "Interact".
Pretty cool stuff.
I have datamaster, freescan, and tuner pro rt all on my computer...so ill figure out which I like best. Although datamaster is only 20 free uses before I have to pay so Ill stick with tuner and freescan until i get the hang of things.
Does the cable come with any installation software of do you just go back to the site and download from there?
