Default No crank / no start possibilities?

In my last thread I mentioned that the car occasionally does not want to start, and before I drop money on parts I was hoping you folks could suggest some things to check 1st. So this afternoon, leaving for lunch I hopped in and went to fire it up, and nothing. I turn the key on and get lights, the security light goes out, I hear the fuel pump, and when I turn the key I can hear a relay clicking behind the glove box area. To me that would point to a dying stater? After getting a push start, I got home and pulled it up on ramps, shut it off and tried to start it; and again the same thing. I crawled under and gave the stater a couple taps with a hammer and still nothing (not that the hammer trick always works). About 30 minutes later I came out and of course it fired up before I could get a voltmeter on it. This evening I am thinking I will check the battery connections and grounds for corrosion. Anything else I should check? Does this seem like most likely the starter to you folks?
Thanks!

that would be the first thing i would check, then cable connections at the starter.

Well my starter I ordered showed up yesterday afternoon, and I was able to get it installed last night... barely, haha. Started digging into it, got the starter free and like I had read, had to remove the Y pipe. Got my deep 15mm on the bolts, and snap! Broke the socket wall instantly. Being 10 at night, I was able to get the 5/8" to work without damaging anything thankfully. Got the starter swapped and so far, so good. This starter definitely cranks with more life than the old one. Now waiting for the coil packs to show up.....
