To your left on that pic there is a canister with a hose going to it attached to a elbow peice. Anyways that's the canister you want to replace.

That's a vacuum check valve, if he is losing freon and pressure from the a/c hose why would he need to replace that valve? His problem would be with the loss of freon and the leak from that hose first I would think.

Second, I posted a link in the beginning of this thread which would help diagnose where the vacuum loss was and simply checking the lines to figure that out and fixing that leak would restore the vacuum allowing the actuators to function properly and direct flow out the dash vents. It's a common problem or there wouldn't be a write up on it. Could be a leak elsewhere, just have to check.

**Addition** Guess it wouldn't really matter though if you went ahead and also replaced the valve since it's cheap, but could simply be one of the hoses and not the valve.

You have to go to the link I posted. The article has links in it as well with diagrams and pics.

Yea, it isn't a difficult fix everything is cheap so it really doesn't matter. I just wanted to clarify that it could also be another hose and didn't want him to just replace the valve and hope or assume it was fixed because we would get another question on it and have to give the same responses. ha

Did switching out the valve help anything? What about the freon line?
