You could get a brand new aluminum drive shaft from summit for like $400 that's stronger than the stock one.

Drive shafts aren't too hard of an install. If you do decided to do it yourself, remember to replace the u joints.

What craby said, They only did that carrier bearing a few years. You can remove it and replace it with either a steel or aluminum one pc shaft (V6 or V8). The steel drive shafts osed normaly sell for $50-$60. The used aluminum one sell for about $100. Check Utube, the process to switch them is very easy the hardest part is jacking the car up. The only thing a Utube drive shaft video might not show you is unbolting the carrier itself, That is just 4 bolts that you are NOT gong to reinstall.

Haven't checked wrecking yards yet Craby. Doing that tomorrow.

Aluminum is better?

I honestly want to keep this car as long as possible and then some, so I'm ok with putting good parts in her. Or even putting in something used right now and then upgrading later on to possibly a V8 (apparently there's room for that under the hood) but that's a long way off.

There's room...just not much. Haha. But other than engines, suspension, wheels/tires, a V6 Camaro and a V8 Camaro are pretty much the same.

not a good idea to switch a 4th gen v6 to v8. cheaper and easier to sell it and buy a z28

Wouldn't you pretty much need a whole donor car to do this swap anyways?
