new 95 z28 owner. newbie alert

Hi, I just bought a 95 z28 from the original owner yesterday. My infiniti G35 6mt coupe had a leaking head gasket, so I sold it and bought the chevy. Anyway, just my luck as soon as I got it home the car overheated and coolant blew out of the over flow. Towed it to the shop, looks like a radiator hose, hoping that's all it is. The car has 166k on the body and auto tranny, but I was told the car had a new remanufactured engine in it from Jasper motor company installed about a year and a half ago. I am finding mixed reviews online about the company, anyone else familiar or had experience with jasper motors? Anything Else I should know To look out for as common issues With This Particular car? Thanks...

I bought a 92 rs. 305 5 SPD. Should have never sold. Christmas for children😢 any ways same issue. I just went ahead and replaced all engine coolant fixtures. Bought a new radiator for around 200$. New hoses thermostat and coolant flush. It was worth it. Never had trouble from that car again. Owned it 2 yes and smoked a lot of ricers. Cooling is important. And critical to the engines longevity. Pay the bill and enjoy the ride.

As a general rule over heating a Lt1 is bad news. If the opti gets coolant inside it it can cause a failure. They also tend to blow head gaskets when they overheat.

The main thing on the Lt1 is maintaining the coolant system and keeping an eye one the weep hole on the water pump (Check it every oil change). If the opti was replaced with one of the cheapy China knock offs that can cause some issue but it is a roll of the dice. Sometimes they last weeks sometimes years.

Jasper is a stream line production type rebuild. You are going to get stock like parts put together as quick as possible. In most cases they will hold together 100,000 miles. I would not recommend them for anyone that would like to do a bunch of mods and boost up HP down the road.
